Philippa's Hair Donation
The young lady in this picture is Philippa Taylor.
Philippa has an amazing story. Back in January of 2012 whilst still at school Philippa was out on a cross country run when she suddenly fainted. Unfortunately, the “faint” was a lot more serious than it appeared, Philippa had suffered a serious spinal injury which left her paralysed and she had to be airlifted to Shrewsbury hospital. From there she was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for treatment.
The promising young athlete had lost all function below the waist. With the help and support of the fantastic staff at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Philippa had to learn again how to swallow, how to write and how to walk. Her mental health was also seriously affected.
Now, 8 years on, Philippa has made an incredible recovery. She has achieved a BSC (Hons) in Human Biology at Derby University. She is currently at the University of Birmingham as an MSc Student Physiotherapist. Not only that she is working part time with the NHS in Walsall.
And it doesn’t stop there. This amazing young woman who just 8 years ago was paralysed and bed ridden is now a very successful international athlete , a national archery champion who has represented Team GB.
Philippa is committed to the NHS and wants to give back to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Anyone who knows Philippa will also know that she has the most incredible head of long curly hair. Philippa is donating her hair to raise much needed funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. There is a link below to her Just Giving page. Please help Philippa help the Children’s Hospital by making a donation. No matter how large or small it will be greatly appreciated.
